A contemporary family garden on a sloping site in Finchley, north London
The clients brief for this garden in Finchley, London was to create a contemporary garden suitable for the whole family to enjoy. The lawn had a considerable slope down towards the house as well as from side to side. This was partially levelled to create a more useable space. The spacious patio was paved using oblong granite slabs, laid lengthways for a clean contemporary feel. This was softened visually with smooth granite setts laid in a sweeping curve from the glass doors to the steps. This was to become a dual purpose space, ideal for bike riding and alfresco dining. A contemporary, raised water-feature creates a focal point on the patio. A curvaceous path, with a white rendered wall to one side continues up the garden to the children’s play area. This area is decked and partially enclosed using wooden posts of varying heights.
